Individual therapy offers the patient the opportunity to express feelings and emotions about life situations in a safe and nonjudgemental atmosphere. Together, we will establish goals to focus on during your time in therapy that will help you reach your full potential of feeling secure and confident to face the challenges of daily living. I provide therapy from a number of schools of thought because I feel that each person is unique in their needs and the type of therapy from which they'll benefit. Together, we will focus on the problems you face and develop solutions and coping mechanisms that you can use in your daily life.
Occasionally, family therapy is a key component to an individual's therapy although it may be primary reason for seeking therapy. Regardless of the reason, I strive to provide a safe environment for family members to come together to talk about the struggles you are facing. I challenge each family member to remain open, non-judgmental, and non-confrontational in order to establish goals each family member can agree to. This often requires that each member of the family, children and adults, agree to changes they can agree to make in order to strengthen the family unit. I offer the security as a non- partisan participant in the therapy to maintain the family therapy rules, create boundaries, and open lines of communication for everyone involved.
In January 2018, I received my CPCS (Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor) certification allowing me to provide supervision to license-eligible therapists. With this certification, my supervisees can be assured that the proper training has been completed and that I am able to provide the required level of supervision for a masters or associate licensed therapist. Although I just earned the CPCS, I have been a licensing supervisor for over 10 years, providing both individual and group supervision to therapists wishing to become Licensed Professional Counselors.
